Holidays fit for (over 50s) celebrities

Whoa…supermodel (and surely the world’s favourite super diva) Naomi Campbell turns 50 this year, on May 22, which means two things: one, she has no right to look so good, and two, she will be eligible for a Saga holiday.

I know what you’re thinking, Naomi won’t want to go on a SAGA holiday, with OLD people, but hear me out, they actually have some really pretty fabulous trips for those people with plenty of time and lots of money.

So, just for fun, Saga have forward their top tour suggestions for Naomi and other celebs who will hit the big 5 oh this year. Take a look, you might be inspired….but soz, you have to be over 50 to qualify!

For Naomi Campbell

Africa

“Naomi enjoys sunshine and loves Africa, so we suggest our 16-night Pride of Africa tour covering Zimbabwe, Botswana and South Africa which features a journey on an elegant vintage train, game safaris in Chobe and Hwange National Parks and sundowner cruises on the Chobe and Zambezi rivers.”

Cost from: £4,799pp

Louis Theroux (May 20)

Greenland Cruise

“Broadcaster Louis does not shy from difficult subjects, but he has admitted being a ‘nervous flyer’ so we could recommend Louis joins new ship Spirit of Discovery to enjoy luxury travel at sea. The 21-night all-inclusive Greenland Explorer would offer plenty of opportunities to meet interesting people, including a choir of Innuit children, plus a wealth of wildlife in stunning landscapes.”

Cost from: £5,856pp

Matt Damon (October 8)

Iceland

“The Good Will Hunting actor is also a co-founder of the charity Water.org which pioneers solutions to give people access to safe water in countries such as Ethiopia. Water.org has given millions of people access to safe water and sanitation through affordable financing so the Saga team thinks Matt would enjoy new five-day Wonders of Iceland tour to tap into ideas for pure drinking water, one of Iceland’s natural resources.

Cost from: £1,195pp

Mariah Carey (March 27)

Costa Rica

The Guinness Book of World Records lists Mariah as the ‘Songbird Supreme’ due to her five-octave vocal range and style. We think she would love listening to the amazing birdlife in San Gerado do Dota in a deep valley surrounded by the Talamanca mountains, to watch and listen to the wonderful birdlife during the coast to coast tour of Costa Rica.

Cost from: £3,099 for 12 nights’ all-inclusive

Alan Shearer (August 13)

Caribbean cruise

“The former England and Newcastle footballer loves to play a round of golf while he is on a sunshine holiday so for something different, he could practise his swing on The Fairway of Spirit of Adventure’s virtual golf course at sea. Whether Alan wants to play on his own or join a tournament, this state-of-the-art digital simulator allows guests to try some of the world’s most famous courses. It’s a sporting experience that’s certainly ‘above par’!”

Cost from: £7,119pp for 31 nights

Uma Thurman (April 29)

Gorillas of Uganda

“Uma Thurman rose to prominence with her performance in Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 film  Pulp Fiction. Off-screen, the actress is an animal lover and joined the Rhino Rescue Project in Africa to help relocate the threatened black rhinoceros. She said her experience with the animals was “spiritual and surreal” so we think she would love our 11-night Gorillas of Uganda trip, an active small group tour to observe these wonderful rare creatures.

Cost from: £4,099pp

Warwick Davis (February 3)

Jersey

English actor Warwick Davis says he loves a holiday on home turf and as a child he used to go caravanning with his family. The Saga team would entice him to try our 5-night Jersey Island Escape the best of the British food, beaches – and a digital detox!

Cost from: £579pp
