  • What to do if your (Ryanair) flight is cancelled due to strike action

If your Ryanair flight is cancelled the airline should offer you an alternative flight, either on its own planes or with another airline. If it isn’t able to do so, you should be refunded the full cost and you should be able to claim compensation under EU law.

Similarly, if your flight is delayed by three hours or more, you are entitled to claim the same amount of compensation as if your flight had been cancelled.

Ryanair has so far refused to pay compensation for strike disruption, claiming that industrial action should be considered an ‘exceptional circumstance’ beyond its control, but the Civil Aviation Authority in the UK insists that it’s wrong to take this view and it must pay up.
